Tom Holland (Thomas Stanley Holland) is a dedicated English actor who has inspired young audiences worldwide through both his performances and charitable work. Best known for playing Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Holland has become a role model for many young people because of his determination, acting talent, and commitment to helping others. Born on June 1, 1996, in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, to parents Dominic and Nikki Holland (Frommer, 2026), he began performing on stage at a young age. After taking classes in gymnastics, tap dancing, and ballet as a child (Variety, 2026), Holland landed his first stage role as Michael Caffrey in Billy Elliot the Musical at the age of 12. The following year, he took over the lead role, which brought him into the spotlight and helped launch his acting career.

In 2012, Holland made his film debut in The Impossible, where his performance as Lucas Bennett won critical praise and marked the beginning of his film career. After his breakout role in The Impossible, Holland landed parts in the drama How I live now (2013) and the BBC historical mini-series Wolf Hall (2015) in smaller supporting roles (Biography, 2020). His path to global stardom and worldwide success followed shortly afterwards.

In June 2015, it was announced that Holland was cast as teenage Peter Parker (Tom Holland Wikia, 2026). He made his debut as Spider-Man in 2016, becoming one of the youngest actors to have worn the mask. (Biography, 2020) In the spring of 2016, he brought the comic book hero to life in Captain America: Civil War. He won a Guinness World Record for being the youngest actor to play a title role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Tom Holland Wikia, 2026). His version of the vigilante was well received and paved the way for his solo movie in 2017, Spider-Man: Homecoming (Biography, 2020). Holland then reprised his heroic mantle throughout the blockbusters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Avengers Infinity War (2018), Avengers Endgame (2019) and Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019).

As well as Holland’s influences through his acting career, he also used his platform to help charity cases. One of these is The Brothers Trust (TBT), a charity founded in 2017 by Nikki and Dominic Holland (TBT, 2019). The aims for TBT were to sell merchandise, organise events and develop corporate sponsorship relationships, with 98.5% of funds distributed as grants. Momentum Children’s Charity (Momentum Children’s Charity, n.d.) was a charity which they helped with, as well as Venture Into Cures (Tom Holland, 2025) which centred around the disease EB. Holland helped raise $11 million within 4 years, helping fund research and accelerating cures and treatments for the disease. These are only two of many. Tom Holland’s influence within society extends beyond his acting career, reaching into the many charities and fundraising events he has organised. Through his platform and achievements, he has managed to make a change by highlighting ways for people to support causes that aren’t acknowledged enough.
